This unique festival includes 2 main events during the day. The first part includes a procession of colorful row boats from St. Mark’s Basin. The second event commemorates the Treaty of Peace of Venice, 1177 between the papacy and the emperor.

Vogalonga Rowing Race

This annual rowing race seeks to raise awareness of the problems created by motorized boats. Today, over 1,500 non-motorized boats gather at St. Mark’s Basin and race along a course around the lagoon islands to Punta della Dogna.

The culmination of the event includes a magnificent fireworks display over St. Mark’s Basin. Incidentally, one of the best places to view the display is from our San Giorgio Terrace.
